not many, really...
AUDIA's intent is to give people the opportunity to try out instruments from around the world in an affordable way and simultaneously get a glimpse at the culture behind these instruments.
Many instruments have high price ranges that don't make sense to buy unless a person is 100% sure they want it. However even testing out these uncommon, ethnic instruments are rare opportunities putting many aspiring musicians in helpless situations because they are unable to access a larger variety of instruments.
There are multiple kinds of Machines depending on type of instrument family, zithers, percussion, etc.. For the scope of this project, I've designed for a couple of string instruments, though very different, have enough physical similarities to share a base.
AUDIA Records are sets of books of books and pins specific to an instrument and a culture. The Record corresponds to the AUDIA Machine that comes with the monthly subscription. The pins serve as a conversation starter when the user is out in public. It is a way for people to non-verbally communicate their music interests and explorations.
